As a mom to be , you are likely to be bombarded with advice (wanted and unwanted) about what your baby will need. From your mom who hasn’t raised a baby in 20+ years, to your single friends who have yet to raise their own. And you are likely to get suggestions for things that you probably won’t even use. As a new mom, here are the 5 things I used day in and day out that helped make mommying easier. These things SAVED ME when I was learning how to navigate through the new role of being a Mom.
1. Fridababy Nose Frida Nasal Aspirator
Why do you need this?
This nasal aspirator helps remove excess mucus when your baby is congested. It also helps get the big boogers out of their nose that you cant see. Unlike most aspirators, the tip does not go into the nose (just the opening of it) which causes less stress to your baby. It’s also quicker and more effective because you don’t have to go into the nose multiple times (like with a nasal bulb) to remove the mucus.
2. Baby Mitts
Why do you need this?
Babies are super fidgety with their hands when they are newborns. As a result they often scratch themselves on their precious little faces. And cutting nails while they are super little was a battle I wasn’t willing to fight. I didn’t want to chance cutting his delicate skin accidently, so baby mitts it was. The baby hand mitts will keep their face scratch free and will stop them from accidently causing any harm to themselves.
3. Anti- Colic Bottles
Why do you need this?
Colicky babies are very irritable and will often cry for extended periods of time because of the gas buildup in their stomach. I found that feeding my son with an anti-colic bottle was a major thing that helped him from being distressed later. These bottles will also stop your baby from scarfing down their milk because the inserts will not allow all the milk to flow to the nipple at the same time. There are two brands that I liked, the Phillips Avent Anti-Colic Bottle and the Dr. Brown’s Natural Flow Bottle. However, the Dr. Brown’s Natural Flow bottle will leak if the insert is not placed inside the bottle correctly.
4. Wipe Warmer
Why do you need this?
Newborn babies like to scream bloody murder when they are being changed. And it makes you feel bad to watch them screech from the top of their lungs when you trying to wipe their little hineys. The wipe warmer will make it more comfortable for your baby when you have to change their diaper. My son definitely was less likely to move during a diaper change with a warm wipe. But, he seemed shocked when a cold wipe touched his butt.
5. Diaper Gene Diaper Pail
Why do you need this?
Although our little bundles of joy are cute, their poop definitely doesn’t smell as heavenly. Having a diaper pail will help to keep all their little diaper treats from causing a smell throughout your house. I love the Diaper Genie because its tall, so its easy to drop diapers in and comes in different colors such as grey, pink , and white.

I had 4/5 of these and totally agree they are super helpful! Great recommendations. I just didn’t have a wipe warmer.
